More News for Season 2 (Spoilers)

Gateworld has some new news:

Season Two explores character relationships
TUESDAY - MAY 31, 2005
Battlestar Galactica writer and co-producer Toni Graphia talks about the upcoming year of the hit show in the new issue of TV Zone magazine. In the interview, Graphia reveals that the series will continue to examine the character's personal relationships and the implications of the Cylons' very human appearance."
As we know, the Sharon on Caprica is pregnant with Helo's child," Graphia said. "What's going to become of that child, and will he or she be human? We'll be exploring the secrets that this child is holding. Back on Galactica, we'll doing a lot with that Sharon and how her shooting Adama will affect not only her but everyone who trusted her, especially Chief Tyrol.
"So we're concentrating a great deal on personal relationships, including how Helo and Tyrol react now that they know their lovers are Cylons. It opens a dual-sided question that we began to explore in 'Flesh and Bone,' can you hate a machine and treat it as a non-human if it's the enemy? Alternately, can you fall in love with a machine and, if so, does that inherently mean it can't be a machine?"
"We'll also ask the question, is the Galactica really alone?" Graphia said. "Is it the last of its kind? It's going to be a very exciting season."
The mid-season two-parter, which will likely finish the summer run of new episodes on a cliffhanger in September, is rumored to reveal that a second battlestar survived the attack on the Colonies, according to a report at Hollywood North Report (beware of major spoilers at this link, including upcoming character deaths). This development has not been confirmed -- but could this be the Battlestar Pegasus, seen in the original series two-parter "The Living Legend" and commanded by Commander Cain (originally played by Lloyd Bridges)?
Check out The Great Link for more from the interview, which is now on newsstands in TV Zone #190! Season Two of Battlestar Galactica begins July 15 on The SCI FI Channel in the U.S.

USA to get BSG first!

From Gateworld.net:

U.S.A. gets Season Two first
TUESDAY - MAY 17, 2005
The U.S. SCI FI Channel will have the world premiere of Battlestar Galactica's second season when it kicks of 20 new episodes on July 15. According to a report at the BBC's Cult Television site, the U.K. network Sky One won't begin airing the new season until October. The first, 13-episode season of the hit new series aired first in the United Kingdom, beginning last fall. SCI FI waited until January to premiere the series, which has proved a ratings winner on both sides of the Atlantic.Sky will air the new season of Galactica alongside the ninth season of Stargate SG-1 and the second season of Stargate Atlantis. Because SCI FI traditionally takes a rerun break from September to January, it is likely that Sky will pass the U.S. cable network and air the second half of the season first.

Season 2 News and Soundtrack Preorder

This in from the Hollywood North Report:

This Associate Editor revealed a number of Season 2 spoilers from the new Battlestar Galactica series premiering on SCI-FI this upcoming July 15th. He announced the information on Shaunomac's Subject2Discussion show at lvrocks.

SPOILERS are included in this article, so only continue if you want to know what occurs in Season 2......

First up, Tarn (who dies in Episode 202) is the name Alonso Oyarzun (Specialist Socinus) picked for unnamed cast members. Seelix is another name Alonso uses for these insignificant figures who are comparable to the red-shirted individuals who always died on the original Star Trek series.

Second, Richard Hatch is coming back as Tom Zarek in Episode #203 and is signed on for 6 of the first 10 episodes of Season 2. It is safe to say he will be in the majority of the Battlestar Galactica episodes.

With respect to more detailed episode synopses for Season 2, Lee will free Laura Roslin from prison and take her down to the planet Kobol in #204 ("Resistance"). Some of the Cylon Plan will be revealed in #205 ("The Farm"): apparently, the Cylons cannot reproduce and so require the bodies of human females to implant their hybrid embryos.

Finally, the spoiler of greatest interest is that contained in #210-211 ( a two-parter): namely, the Galactica comes across another Battlestar which had escaped the destruction of the colonies. It can be assumed that this Battlestar is the Pegasus under the command of Cain. Ron Moore has repeatedly stated he would like to reimage the "Living Legend" story line from the original series, and this will probably be his attempt to do so. Here's hoping that more information will be provided on this two-parter in the upcoming months.

Stay tuned for more news items on SCI-FI's groundbreaking series, Battlestar: Galactica, which has a 20 episode run for its second season. Source: lvrocks

They're bringing back Pegasus! I believe that this season is going to possibly surpass the first season!

Jamie Bamber Interview At Gateworld

Gateworld.net has just posted up an interview in their newly revamped Galactica section of their website.

As Captain Lee "Apollo" Adama, actor Jamie Bamber has become a leading man for science fiction's newest hit -- the reimagined Battlestar Galactica. Born in London, 32-year-old Bamber has also appeared in "Band of Brothers," "The Scarlet Pimpernel," and the Horatio Hornblower series.
GateWorld caught up with Bamber at
Collectormania 7, held in Buckinghamshire in the U.K. in April. In this interview, the actor talks about working with his fellow cast members, Lee's displaced role on the Galactica, and the predicament in which he finds himself in the show's upcoming second season. Beware of spoilers through the Season One finale, "Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part 2."

GW: As Apollo you've had some very intense scenes this year on Battlestar Galactica. Which of your work are you proudest of?
JB: I think I like the stuff I have to do with Starbuck in the twelfth episode.
Apollo's relationship with Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) is filled with romantic conflict. From "Colonial Day."GW: The argument?
JB: Yeah -- well, there's something about it. It's sort of an explosion of jealousy that is a complete surprise to him because I don't think he's ... he's not fully aware of what he feels. There's something quite like a gut reaction that really was exciting to play. It was a surprise to me.
GW: So did you know beforehand that that scene would be coming?
JB: Yeah. When you read the script you know that something's coming, but you don't know quite how it's going to play out until the day. And it's always fun working with Katee [Sackhoff,
"Kara Thrace"] -- she's a good actress.
GW: Apollo seems to draw inspiration from Adama and from President Roslin, from their leadership; and yet he's always ready to challenge their authority. Do you see him as a natural leader or as someone who wants to fall in line but who can't find someone to line up behind?
JB: I think he's his own man. I think he's a natural leader, but I don't think he's realised that yet. We are exploring it.
