BSG Episodes Help Power iTunes Sales'Galactica' Leads NBC-Universal Episode Sales(June 28 2006) - Episodes of "Battlestar Galactica" have helped push NBC-Universal past 6 million sales on the iTunes Music Store, according to the spymac.com website.
The NBC Universal Television Group has had the most luck with SciFi Channel's "Battlestar Galactica," USA Network's "Monk," and sketches from "Saturday Night Live." Classics such as "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" have not done as well, John Miller, chief marketing officer for the company, said.
NBC Universal sells previously broadcast shows on iTunes for $1.99 each.
NBC now has plans to use video sharing site YouTube to promote its fall television lineup as viewers turn off the TV and turn to the Internet through the summer, spymac said.
"The distinction between television and video is becoming murkier and murkier," said Miller. "Rather than putting our heads in the sand and saying this doesn't exist, we're trying to jump in and embrace it."
